Island of Krk

Island of Krk is the most northern Croatian island, situated at the middle of the Kvarner Bay. It’s also the largest island at the Adratic, with the surface of 409,9 km2. It’s the island with the biggest number of inhabited towns and villages, a total of 68 of them, and there is 17 000 of inhabitants living there today.
Island of Krk is at only 30 km from Rijeka, which is the third biggest Croatian city and a center of Primorsko-Goranska county. There is a bridge connecting it with the mainland (“Krčki most”), opened to traffic in 1980, after 4 years of construction. The bridge makes it easy for buses and cars to reach the island. Rijeka Airport is situated at the island of Krk, what makes the island accessible from numerous destinations across Europe.
